Dogs on a Lead Welcome
We’re happy for you to bring your dog with you, but it must be kept on a lead at all times.
For the founder Helen, great food began in her grandparent’s kitchen – during warm summers. She would watch her gran chop vegetables to make Cornish pasties until she was lucky enough to have a go herself. In that moment, home cooking became a thing of pure joy.
Helen’s happy childhood inspired her to recreate those beautiful, honest memories with The Woodland Kitchen.
Here, you will enjoy locally-sourced ingredients, in the same way, Helen remembers, from her grandparent’s own cows and straw-fed piglets, as well as honey that’s produced in beehives on-site.
Like you, she and the team understand, that food brings people together.
Enjoy the Bistro Cafe’s Exquisite Menu
As well as pairing some of the most beautiful flavours together for the Bistro menu, we have sourced a number of our ingredients from local Cornish suppliers.
You’ll enjoy gorgeous fresh milk from the local dairy in St. Ives, as well as some of the freshest cuts of meat from our local and most trusted butchery, Dales Butchers. Every glass of orange juice is squeezed from the sweetest fresh oranges – and don’t worry, we cook-up a storm for everyone, including vegetarians, vegans, and children.
Our Head Chef, Shane Wilkes who worked at Jamie Oliver’s 15 Restaurant at Watergate Bay for 13 years, and is the creative brains behind the Bistro’s menu.
It might also be useful to know that Helen personally recommends the Bistro’s French Toast; so grab yourself a plateful when you’re next here for brunch (you’ll soon be wanting seconds!).
Our bistro is open Wednesday to Sunday 9am – 4pm, for breakfast and lunch, coffee and cake, or a Cornish cream tea, feel free to pop in.
Richard and Helen are the third generation of the family to live and work at Sunrise, and they are keen to share this beautiful landscape with guests and their families. As they are passionate about wildlife and conserving nature for future generations, Helen says ‘It’s a pure joy to welcome our visitors to this little slice of Eden’.
“Food imaginatively and lovingly prepared, and eaten in good company, warms the being.”
