About Woodland Kitchen

There’s a story on every plate and you’re invited to rustle-up your own.

Isn’t it remarkable how the aroma of freshly-baked scones can take you right back to some of your most cherished childhood memories?

Or how a bowlful of Cornish stew can hug your insides and effortlessly remind you of home?

It’s as if every morsel of your favourite, homemade food is packed with stories, memories and laughter – and you can’t help but want to share those experiences with the people you love most.

That’s exactly how The Woodland Kitchen came about.

In the Summer our bistro is open Wednesday to Sunday 9am – 4pm, for breakfast and lunch, coffee and cake, or a Cornish cream tea. Feel free to pop in.

Cookery School

Bring a hearty appetite to learn! Discovering where your food comes from and how it’s prepared, makes it taste even more delicious.

You’ll be taught by qualified Chefs in an informal and friendly environment. And don’t worry, you won’t even need lots of previous experience nor knowledge (we’ll guide you step-by-step in the class).

This is an exciting way to introduce children to cooking as well and teach them that nothing beats homemade food.

Cookery School

The Woodland Kitchen Cookery School near St Ives offers inspiring and practical cookery courses.

Our hands-on cookery courses are a great way to learn a new skill or develop an exciting one, inspire and give you confidence in the kitchen, guided by our instructors who are qualified Chefs with many years of training and experience in some of the top kitchens. We have created an informal and fun environment taking you through each recipe step by step.

At the Woodland Kitchen, we believe it is important to get children in the kitchen and to give them an understanding of where their food comes from. These easy menus get them cooking their own meals and appreciate fresh home cooked meals.

As ever, at the Woodland Kitchen, we are passionate about food and believe cooking should be fun.

We look forward to welcoming you to class!

The Bistro

Richard and Helen are the third generation of the family to live and work at Sunrise, and they are keen to share this beautiful landscape with guests and their families. As they are passionate about wildlife and conserving nature for future generations, Helen says ‘It’s a pure joy to welcome our visitors to this little slice of Eden’.

Soak up the stunning views of Cornwall, while sipping on a freshly-squeezed orange juice with your family and friends.

The Woodland Kitchen’s Bistro menu is prepared by our Head Chef, Helen Angove. His motto is to let simple good quality local ingredients do the talking; which we’re sure you will agree with thanks to Helen’s gorgeous menu.

We cater for vegetarians, vegans, and even for the little ones’ palates; so all you’ll need to do is sit back in your seats, and tell us what you’re in the mood for.

Our Local Suppliers

Dales Family butchers, Helston

Dales source their free range pigs from local farmers in West Cornwall and apply their own special cure to the loin meat to create the most delicious thick cut bacon that is not too salty.  Their sausages are unique, made to the secret family recipe that has been handed down through the generations.

Cornhill Free range eggs, Camborne

Happy hens make delicious eggs and these girls are not only free range so they can forage and enjoy a good dust bath in the sunshine, they also have their own TOYS in their houses to play with when they are inside! Their eggs have a rich orange yolk and they are so fresh as they are delivered to us within 48 hours of being laid!

Polgoon Apple juice and Elderflower Presse, Penzance

Polgoon is dedicated to producing a range of artisan Cornish wines, ciders and juices on the family-run vineyard and orchard in Penzance, Cornwall. All their juices are certified vegan. Their shared purpose at Polgoon is to create high quality products using the best locally sourced ingredients, whilst doing as little damage to our environment as they possibly can.

Trink Dairy, St Ives

Trink’s award winning milk has been produced by a local family, who care for their herd and take pride in supplying their milk to local people. The cows roam on the farm to graze the luscious grass which makes up 90% of their diet and they are only milked once a day.  The milk is lightly pasteurised within the hour and hand bottled to retain its taste and nutrients.
